YY 0166-2002 is the English-translated version of 带线缝合针.
YY 0166-2002 is a mandatory Chinese medical device standard on surgical suture needles supplied already armed with thread. It lays down the requirements for the armed needle, the sampling and the test methods, the classification and marking, and the provisions for the instructions for use, packaging, transport and storage.
The products in its field are needles used to suture body tissue. It draws on GB 191, GB/T 2828, GB/T 4506-1984, GB 9969.1, GB/T 4340.1-1999, YY 0167-1998, YY 1110-2002 and YB/T 5219-1993.
It supersedes YY 0044-1991 and the earlier YY 0166-1994. Issued on 8 January 2002, it has applied since 1 May 2002.
