YB/T 6479.1-2026 is Part 1 of a series on artificial-intelligence-based metallographic testing systems for steel products, and it gives the general requirements. It covers the system architecture, equipment requirements, data requirements, model layer requirements and intelligent applications. It applies to the design and development of intelligent metallographic testing systems for steel products; intelligent metallographic systems for other products may refer to it.

Steel producers and their metallurgical laboratories, independent testing laboratories, and suppliers of microscopy, imaging and analysis software can use it when designing, building or evaluating such systems. It is a voluntary standard, as the /T in its code shows. It was approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, issued on 15 July 2026 and takes effect on 1 February 2027. It is a new standard.
