Scope

YB/T 4163-2016 is the English-translated version of 铁塔用热轧角钢.

YB/T 4163-2016 is the Chinese iron and steel industry standard for hot-rolled steel angles used in lattice tower structures such as power transmission towers. Tower angles are ordered in large tonnages by grade and size, and the standard gives mills and tower fabricators a common basis for ordering, dimensions and tolerances, technical requirements, testing and certification. Angles are classified by specified minimum yield strength into grades 235, 275, 345, 420 and 460, with quality grades A to E, and designated with a final T for tower, as in Q235AT. It covers ordering information, dimension, shape, weight and permissible tolerances, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and packaging, marking and the quality certificate. Issued by MIIT on 22 October 2016 and applicable since 1 April 2017, it replaced YB/T 4163-2007; Code of China lists YB/T 4163-2026 as its successor.

Foreword

This document was issued on 22 October 2016 by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, and has applied since 1 April 2017.

It replaces YB/T 4163-2007.

Code of China lists YB/T 4163-2026 as the edition that succeeds this one.

It is a YB/T standard: a recommended industry standard of China's iron and steel industry.

1 Scope

This standard specifies the classification and designation, order information, dimension, shape, weight and permissible tolerance, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and packaging, marking and quality certificate of hot-rolled steel angles for tower structure.

This standard is applicable to the hot-rolled steel angles for tower structure (hereinafter referred to as "steel angles").

3 Classification and designation

3.1 Classification

The steel angles are classified into Grade 235, Grade 275, Grade 345, Grade 420 and Grade 460 according to the specified minimum yield strength.

3.2 Designation expression

The designation of a steel angle consists of four parts in order: the symbol "Q" representing the yield strength of steel, the specified minimum yield strength, the quality grade, and the first letter "T" of the Chinese Pinyin "Ta" (i.e., the tower).

Example: Q235AT.

Q - the symbol representing the yield strength of steel;

235 - the specified minimum yield strength, in N/mm2;

A, B, C, D, E - the quality grades respectively;

T - the first letter of the Chinese Pinyin "Ta" (i.e., the tower).
