WS/T 887-2026 is a technical standard on the prevention and control of falls among elderly people living in the community. Falls are a frequent cause of injury in older adults, and the document deals with the techniques used to prevent them and to control the risk in community settings.

It is used by community health service centres, primary care physicians, nurses, elderly care providers and public health staff who work with older residents, as well as by administrators who plan fall prevention work. It is a voluntary standard, as shown by the /T in its code. It was approved by the National Health Commission, issued on 28 February 2026 and takes effect on 1 September 2026. It is a new standard.
