1 Scope

This standard specifies the textile and apparel polyvinyl chloride (PVC) flame coloring and infrared spectroscopy qualitative identification methods.

This standard applies to textile and apparel qualitative identification of coated fabrics, plastic accessories sample suspected of containing PVC.

GB/T 6040 General rules for infrared spectroscopy Test Method 3

3.1 Overview

Flame colorimetric method (3.2) can be used as a sample in the screening method PVC qualitative identification by the method test results negative samples can be determined Given free of PVC, tested positive samples need to use infrared spectroscopy (3.3) further confirmed. Samples can also be directly using infrared light Spectroscopy (3.3) for qualitative analysis.

3.2 Method One. Flame colorimetric method

3.2.1 Principle

The sample was placed on a red-hot wire, flame oxidation of flame combustion, according to the color of the flame is determined whether the sample contains PVC.

3.2.2 Reagents and materials

3.2.2.1 alcohol burner or gas lamps.

3.2.2.2 bare copper wire about 15cm long, mounted on cork.

3.2.2.3 Fine sandpaper. 600 grit or other applicable models.

3.2.3 Test procedure

3.2.3.1 coated fabric directly cut into small strips or blocks; plastic attachments scissors, cutting, sawing and other appropriate methods such as broken into tiny lumps or a sheet.
