SJ/T 12097-2026 is an information technology standard on the data format of the software bill of materials. A software bill of materials is a structured list of the components that make up a piece of software, and this document deals with the format in which such a list is written and exchanged as data. It is a basic standard for the electronics and information technology sector and not a product specification.

It is intended for software developers and suppliers that produce bills of materials, for organisations that receive and process them for supply chain and security management, for tool vendors whose products create or read such data, and for assessment bodies and purchasers who ask for software component information. The standard is voluntary, as the /T in its code shows, and applies where companies, contracts or other rules adopt it. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved and issued it on 11 March 2026, and it takes effect on 1 June 2026. It is a new document and does not replace an earlier edition.
