1 Scope
This Standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for surface paint coatings of wheels for motor vehicles for decorative and corrosion protection purposes.
This Standard applies to the surface paint coatings of wheels for motor vehicles.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this Standard, the following terms and definitions, as well as those given in GB/T 8264-2008, apply.
3.1
The front of the wheel spokes and the rim area which are visible when the wheel is installed on the vehicle.
4 Technical requirements
The performance requirements for wheel surface coatings shall comply with the provisions of Table 1.
5 Test methods
5.1 Coating appearance
5.1.1 Wheel inspection shall be carried out under natural sunlight or artificial light source, with the distance between the eyes and the product approximately 500 mm. The artificial light source shall be uniform, and the illuminance shall be 900 ~ 1 200 lx.
5.1.2 After the coating corrosion test, when checking the corrosion condition of the coating, the distance between the eyes and the sample board shall be approximately 300 mm.
5.1.3 Unless otherwise specified, determine the color difference of the coating by visual colorimetry. Evaluate the color difference class by comparing the painted wheel or sample board with the standard board in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 9761-2008.
5.2 Coating thickness
The method for determining coating thickness shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 13452.2-2008.
5.3 Coating hardness
The method for determining the coating hardness shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 6739-2006.
5.4 Coating adhesion
The method for determining coating adhesion shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 9286-1998.
5.5 Coating water resistance
The method for determining the coating water resistance shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 5209-1985.
5.6 Coating salt spray resistance
The method for determining the coating salt spray resistance shall comply with the provisions of GB/T 10125-1997.
The sample shall be cut from a representative wheel, retaining the spokes and rim, and the coating near the cut area shall not be damaged during sampling. Unless otherwise specified, the cut area shall be protected with an appropriate covering (such as paraffin wax, paint or tape). Before the test, a line shall be drawn on the surface of the sample using a special tool, and the line shall penetrate the base layer.
After the test cycle is completed, take the sample out, wash with clean water and dry with filter paper; place at room temperature for 2 hours; check for blistering, rust, edge corrosion, corrosion spread along the marked area, etc. of the coating.
Evaluate blistering and corrosion of the coating in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1766-2008. Determine edge corrosion as a percentage of the edge corrosion length. See Table 2 for the corrosion class.
5.7 Coating resistance to damp heat
