rules, packaging, transportation, and storage requirements for multilayer plastic fuel pipes for

automobiles (hereinafter referred to as "multilayer pipe"); and describes the test methods.

This Document applies to the manufacture, inspection, sale, and use of multilayer plastic fuel

pipes with an operating temperature between -40°C and +135°C, a working medium of gasoline

or gasoline vapor, and a maximum operating pressure not exceeding 0.7 MPa.

This Document applies to solid-wall pipe; for corrugated pipe, refer to the relevant test methods

depending on the specific operating environment.

2 Normative References

The provisions in following documents become the essential provisions of this Document

through reference in this Document. For the dated documents, only the versions with the dates

indicated are applicable to this Document; for the undated documents, only the latest version

(including all the amendments) is applicable to this Document.

thermoplastic elastomer parts

3 Terms and Definitions

For the purposes of this Document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 19278-2018 and

the following apply.

3.1 Multilayer pipe

The pipe whose wall is composed of two or more layers of different materials or structures.

[SOURCE. GB/T 19278-2018, 2.2.4]

3.2 Solid-wall pipe

The pipe with a uniform annular cross-section and solid walls.

[SOURCE. GB/T 19278-2018, 2.2.2]

3.3 Corrugated pipe

The pipe with a series of parallel ridges and grooves.

4 Identification

The identification on multilayer pipes shall be clear, secure, and shall not damage the

performance of the multilayer pipe. The identification information on multilayer pipes should

include the following contents; see Figure 1 for an example.

a) Specification. Generally, use nominal outer diameter × wall thickness;

b) Material. Major visible materials shall be identified in accordance with QC/T 797;

c) Production date. It shall include year, month, and day; the order and character format of

year, month, and day are not limited;

d) Others.

5 Dimension and Specification

Table 1 lists the dimensions of the multilayer pipes in this Document. The thickness and

tolerances of each layer of the multilayer pipe can be determined through negotiation between

minimum value of the test results of 5 specimens is used as the calculated initial bursting

strength at room temperature.

7.5.1.2.3 In the bursting strength test, fittings/connectors that do not affect the bursting strength

of the specimen shall be used. If the fitting/connector detaches from the specimen or bursts

before the specimen bursts, the test data is invalid. If necessary, auxiliary fixtures shall be added

to ensure the test is conducted effectively.

7.5.1.2.4 When performing tests according to the provisions of 7.7, 7.8, 7.9, 7.10, and 7.11, if

the connector detaches from the specimen or bursts before the specimen bursts or before the

required pressure level is reached, the test data is invalid. The specimen can be reused (by

inserting another fitting/connector) to avoid re-aging treatment.

7.5.2 Bursting strength at high temperature
7.5.2.1 Test apparatus

High-temperature bursting strength testing machine.

7.5.2.2 Test procedure
7.5.2.2.1 If the maximum applicable temperature for multilayer pipes is 135°C, the specimen

shall be tested at an ambient temperature and a medium temperature of 135°C±2°C. If the

maximum applicable temperature for multilayer pipes is 115°C, the specimen shall be tested at

an ambient temperature and a medium temperature of 115°C±2°C.

7.5.2.2.2 The internal test medium of the specimen is silicone oil.
7.5.2.2.3 Connect the specimen to a high-temperature bursting strength testing machine and

stabilize it for 2 h at the ambient temperature specified in 7.5.2.2.1.After heating the test

medium to the medium temperature specified in 7.5.2.2.1, pressurize the multilayer pipe at a

rate of 7 MPa/min ± 1 MPa/min until the multilayer pipe bursts. Record the maximum pressure

value of each specimen during the test as the test result.

7.5.2.2.4 In the bursting strength test, fittings/connectors that do not affect the bursting strength

of the specimen shall be used. If the fitting/connector detaches from the specimen or bursts

before the specimen bursts, the test data is invalid. If necessary, auxiliary fixtures shall be added

to ensure the test is conducted effectively.

7.6 Surface resistivity

7.6.1 Test apparatus

Ohmmeter.

Copper needle. Outer diameter of copper needle = Inner diameter of specimen ID (nominal size)

+ 0.1 mm.

7.7.2 Test method
7.7.2.1 This test should be performed according to Method I. If Method I cannot be met, Method

II shall be performed after agreement between the supplier and the purchaser, and this shall be

stated in the report.

7.7.2.2 Method I.

a) Place the specimen and impact testing apparatus in an environmental chamber at -40 °C

± 2 °C for 4 h;

b) Place the specimen in the mounting hole of specimen shown in Figure 6 in an environment

at -40 °C ± 2 °C, and then allow the impact hammer to drop.

7.7.2.3 Method II.

a) Place the specimen and impact testing apparatus in an environmental chamber at -40°C±2°C

for 4 h;

b) Remove the impact apparatus from the environment at -40°C±2°C and place it in an

environment with a temperature not exceeding 23°C;

c) Remove the specimen from the environment at -40°C±2°C and place it in the mounting

hole of specimen shown in Figure 6 within 5 s, then allow the impact hammer to drop;

d) Remove the impact apparatus from the environment at -40°C±2°C for a maximum of 3

min. During this period, multiple specimens can be conducted impact test. Near the end

of the 3 min, return the impact apparatus to the environmental chamber for at least 25

min;

e) Repeat steps b) to d) until all specimens have undergone impact test.

7.7.2.4 After the impact test, visually inspect the specimen for cracks and record the results.

Then place the specimen in a room temperature environment of 23°C±2°C to allow it to return

to room temperature.

7.7.2.5 Perform the test on the specimen according to the provisions of 7.5.1 and record the test

data.

7.7.2.6 If the specimen is a multilayer pipe with conductivity requirements, perform the test on

the specimen first according to the provisions of 7.6, and then perform the test according to the

provisions of 7.7.2.5.

7.7.2.7 If the specimen is a corrugated pipe, the impact hammer shall be dropped from a height

of 153 mm±3 mm, and the impact location shall preferably be the corrugated area.
