Compared with QB/T 2119-1995, the main changes of this standard are as
follows.
- This standard was compiled, with reference to the German standard RAL-
GZ 041/1 (2005) "General Quality and Inspection Specifications for
Candles", American Society for Testing and Materials Standard ASTM F
2417-2004 "Standard Specification for Fire Safety for Candles";
- ADD the indicator of odor;
- CHANGE the original wax texture index into the appearance index;
- CHANGE the original vertical skewness index into the product placement
stability index;
- ADD the combustion performance index;
- ADD the flame height index;
- ADD the combustion afterglow index;
- ADD the light stability index;
- ADD the net content index.

1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods,
inspection rules and signs, packaging, transportation, storage, shelf life of basic
candles.
This standard applies to candles, which are processed with paraffin wax and/or
vegetable wax as the main raw material.

3 Terms and definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this standard.
4 Requirements
4.1 Sensory requirements
Sensory requirements shall meet the requirements of Table 1.
4.2 Physical and chemical requirements
The physical and chemical requirements shall meet the requirements of Table
2.
4.3 Net content
The net content shall comply with the provisions of Order No.75 of the General
Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the
People's Republic of China.
5 Test method
5.1 Sensory requirements
5.1.1 Appearance
Take 4 samples. Perform visual inspection.
5.2 Physical and chemical requirements
5.2.1 Exposed length of wax core
Take 4 samples. Use a vernier caliper to measure the candle. Each candle shall
meet the requirements of the standard. Take the maximum value of the test
results among the 4 candles, as the final test result.
5.2.4 Melting point
Determine it in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 2539.
5.2.5 Burning performance
Take 4 samples. Place them at an interval of 200 mm, at a room temperature
of 15°C ~ 25°C, without strong air convection. After lighting the candle for 15
min, observe the burning situation, until it is completely extinguished. The flame
shall be stable, burning silently, without self-extinguishing, no wax flow (a small
amount of wax flow is allowed, but not flowing out of the candle); there is no
black smoke, which is invisible to the naked eye.
5.2.6 Flame height
Take 4 samples. Burn it for 30 min and 1 h, respectively, at room temperature
of 15 °C ~ 25 °C, without strong air convection. Respectively use a steel ruler,
to measure the height of the lowest point and highest point of the flame. Take
the maximum of the two test results as the final test result.
5.2.8 Thermal stability
5.2.8.1 Main instrument
Constant temperature incubator. Accuracy ±1 °C.
5.2.8.2 Measurement procedure
Take a small package of samples (not less than 4 pcs). Place it flat in a constant
temperature incubator at (35 ± 1) °C. Keep it for 24 hours. Take it out to restore
to room temperature. Observe whether there is merging, deformation,
discoloration, waxing.
5.2.10 Light stability
5.2.10.1 Instrument
5.3 Net content
Take 10 samples for weighing. Compare with the marked net content. It shall
meet the requirements of Order No.75 of the General Administration of Quality
Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
6 Inspection rules
6.1 Inspection classification
Product inspection is divided into exit-factory inspection and type inspection.
6.1.3 Group-batch and sampling
The products of the same batching and same specification form a batch. From
each batch of products, randomly take the sample which meet the inspection
quality requirements, which shall pass the inspection of the inspection
department of the factory, AND be accompanied with product certificate, before
leaving the factory.
6.2 Judgment rules
If there is an indicator in the inspection result that does not meet the
requirements of this standard, it may carry out double sampling, from the same
batch of products, for re-inspection.
7 Marking, packaging, transportation, storage, shelf life
7.1 Marking
Product's sales packaging and transportation packaging shall meet the
requirements of GB/T 191.
7.1.1 The sales package shall have the following signs. In special
circumstances, it can be based on customer requirements.
7.1.2 The transportation package shall have the following signs. In special
circumstances, it can be based on customer requirements.
7.2 Packaging
Without damaging the quality of the product, the product's packaging form and
packaging materials are determined by both the supplier and the buyer. There
shall be no gaps in the packaging box.
7.3 Transportation
Avoid violent vibration, impact, sun and rain exposure, during transportation.
Handle with care when loading and unloading.
7.4 Storage
The products shall be stored in a ventilated and dry warehouse below 35 °C.
Avoid close to heat sources. It shall not directly touch the ground and walls
when stacking. The stacking height shall not exceed 2 m.
7.5 Shelf life
The date shall be marked on the visible surface.
