Scope

NB/T 10349-2019 is the English-translated version of 压力钢管安全检测技术规 程.

NB/T 10349-2019 sets out how to inspect the safety of steel penstocks in service at hydropower projects. Inspection bodies, staff and instruments must be qualified, and penstocks are checked for the first time within 5 years of operation, then every 5 to 10 years, with special inspections after disasters or abnormal operation.

Field work comprises patrol inspection of exposed, buried and dam-embedded pipes, visual inspection, material testing, corrosion inspection with grades A to D, non-destructive testing including TOFD, static and dynamic stress measurement and vibration testing, followed by review calculation, safety evaluation and the test report.

It replaces DL/T 709-1999, adding corrosion assessment and review calculation and dropping water quality testing. Issued on 30 December 2019, it has applied since 1 July 2020.
