Sapwood penetration rate penetrationpercentageinsapwood the ratio of the depth of penetration of the preservative or flame retardant (active ingredient) into the wood sapwood to the total depth of the wood (same side) sapwood, expressed in %.
4 Instruments
4.1 Hollow drill (5 mm or 10 mm aperture).
4.2 Flat ruler (length 150mm) or integrator (measurement accuracy 1mm2).
4.3 Brown and white indicator bottles with a dropper (100 mL).
4.4 Surface dish (70mm or 90mm in diameter).
5 Preparation of samples to be tested
Samples containing sapwood should be selected for the sample to be tested. The test sample should be sampled at the length of the wood and about 500 mm from the port.
The sample site should avoid the knots, cracks, ends and stress wood of the wood. After the position is determined, the cross section of the wood takes a piece of wood in the middle or drills with a hollow drill.
