1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and their definitions used for sprinkling irrigation machinery.
It applies to the design, manufacture and testing of sprinkling irrigation machinery, including sprinkling machines, sprinkling pumps, sprinkler pipelines and sprinkler heads.
This standard is a revision of JB/T 7872-95 "Sprinkling irrigation machinery - Terminology". The revision was editorial and the main technical content is unchanged. It supersedes JB/T 7872-95 from the date of implementation. It was proposed by, and falls under the jurisdiction of, the National Technical Committee for the Standardization of Agricultural Machinery, and was drafted by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Mechanization Sciences and the Pumping and Drainage Machinery Research Institute of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology.
2 Sprinkling irrigation machines
Sprinkling irrigation machine (sprinkling machine): sprinkling irrigation machinery in which the prime mover, pump, pipeline, sprinkler head and travelling gear are assembled in a given way to form a single whole.
2.1 Multi-support sprinkling machine
A sprinkling machine whose sprinkler lateral is carried on wheels or on towers; it includes centre pivot, translation line move and roll wheel line move machines.
2.2 Centre pivot sprinkling machine (circular sprinkling machine)
A sprinkling machine whose sprinkler lateral is carried on several towers and rotates about a central pivot.
2.3 Translation line move sprinkling machine
A sprinkling machine whose sprinkler lateral is supported on several towers and which sprinkles while moving at right angles to the lateral.
2.4 Roll wheel line move sprinkling machine
A sprinkling machine in which the lateral fixed to a number of wheels acts as the axle and rolls at right angles to itself.
2.5 Traveller sprinkling irrigation machine
A sprinkling machine in which a winch winds a special hose or steel rope to draw the sprinkler cart along.
2.6 Double boom sprinkling machine
A sprinkling machine with cantilever trusses extending from both sides of the travelling machine, the sprinkler lateral forming their chord member.
2.7 Tractor-mounted sprinkling machine
A sprinkling machine whose pump is mounted on the hydraulic linkage of a tractor and driven by the tractor power take-off.
2.8 Trolley sprinkling machine
A sprinkling machine whose prime mover and pump are mounted on a hand trolley.
2.9 Stretcher sprinkling machine
A sprinkling machine whose prime mover and pump are mounted on a frame carried by hand.
2.10 Centre pivot
The water inlet part of the lateral of a centre pivot sprinkling machine, which is also the supporting member and the axis of rotation of the lateral.
2.11 Centre support
The member that supports the centre pivot.
