JB/T 6331.1-1992, a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard, gives the method for measuring the noise of foundry machinery by determining sound power level. Measurement is made in an essentially free field over a reflecting plane, and the standard offers two grades of procedure, an engineering method and a survey method, chosen according to the acoustic conditions of the test site, the quantities to be determined and the measurement uncertainty that can be accepted. It applies to foundry machines of all kinds, whether their noise is steady, unsteady or periodically varying. The text is a non-equivalent adoption of ISO 3744-1981 and ISO 3746, and it quotes GB 3102.7, GB 3241, GB 3785, GB 3947, GB 4129, JJG 176 and JJG 188. Issued on 1 July 1992, it has applied since 1 January 1993.
