JB/T 5137-2014 was issued by MIIT on 9 July 2014 and has been in force since 1 November 2014.
It replaces the earlier edition JB/T 5137-1991.
2 Scope
This standard is the recommended Chinese machinery industry standard for exhaust silencers fitted to general utility small gasoline engines. It fixes the terms and definitions used for these mufflers and then the technical requirements, the test methods, the inspection rules and the rules for packaging and storage. The standard is written for the exhaust silencers of general purpose small gasoline engines, the engines used on portable and light equipment rather than on road vehicles. It quotes GB/T 191, GB/T 2828.1, GB/T 4759-2009, GB/T 8170, the JB/T 5135 series and JB/T 5141. It takes the place of JB/T 5137-1991.
