JB/T 4215-2008 is a recommended Chinese machinery industry standard that deals with boronizing. It sets out the base material to be treated, the process, the equipment, the boronizing agent, the after-treatment that follows the process, the basic requirements for inspection of the boride layer, and the safety provisions. The treatment is addressed to parts that have to withstand abrasion, corrosion and oxidation: structural steels of various kinds, tool and die steels, stainless steels, and finished or semi-finished iron parts still awaiting polishing and grinding. The Chinese classification recorded for it is J36 and the international one 25.200. Among the standards it quotes are GB/T 699, GB/T 3077 and JB/T 7709. It supersedes JB/T 4215-1996.
