1 Foreword

JB/T 12958-2016 was issued by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China on 22 October 2016 and has been in force since 1 April 2017.

2 Scope

This standard is a recommended standard of the Chinese machinery industry for ultrasonic gas meters used in the home. It covers terms and definitions, symbols, working conditions, metrological performance, structure and materials, optional functions, displayed information, marking, application software, communication, the battery, electromagnetic compatibility and resistance to ultrasonic noise, together with appearance, inspection rules, packaging, transport and storage. The meters within its scope are installed either in enclosed spaces, indoors or in protected positions, or in the open air without protection, where slight vibration, shock, condensation and electromagnetic interference may arise, and they work at a maximum pressure of not more than 50 kPa and a maximum flow of not more than 10 m3/h. Among the standards it quotes are GB/T 2828.1, GB/T 2423.1-2008, GB/T 2423.4-2008, GB 3836.1-2010 and GB 3836.14-2000. Its codes are N12, with ICS 17.120.10 and 91.140.40.
