HG/T 4103-2009 is the Chinese chemical industry standard that gives the general method for the determination of organic nitrogen compounds among chemical reagents. The organic nitrogen is converted into ammonia, the distilled ammonia is absorbed in a boric acid solution, and the nitrogen content is then found by acid-base titration. The method is intended for the macro determination of nitrogen in organic reagents. Compounds in which the nitrogen is present as molecular nitrogen or in azo, hydrazine, hydrazone, nitro, nitroso, biuret and comparable forms are first pretreated according to the appropriate standard and only then measured in this way. It quotes GB/T 601, GB/T 603 and GB/T 6682, and it replaces GB/T 608-1988. Issued on 4 December 2009, it has applied since 1 June 2010.
