HG/T 3940-2007 is the Chinese chemical industry standard for propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate of industrial grade. It lays down the technical requirements for the solvent together with the test methods, the inspection rules and the provisions for marking, packaging, transport, storage and safety. It covers material obtained by the esterification of propylene glycol monomethyl ether with acetic acid, and is used in the production, inspection and sale of that product, which goes mainly into coatings, electronics and textile printing and dyeing. The standard is a modified adoption of ASTM D4835-2003, and its analytical work draws on GB/T 601-2002, GB/T 603-2002, GB/T 6678-2003, GB/T 6682-1992 and GB/T 9722-2006. Issued on 13 April 2007, it has applied since 1 October 2007.
