HG/T 3934-2007 is the Chinese chemical industry standard for dimethyl ether. It sets the requirements for the product and gives the test methods, the inspection rules and the rules for marking, packaging, transport, storage and safety. It applies to dimethyl ether produced by gas-phase or liquid-phase dehydration of methanol, by direct synthesis from syngas, or recovered from other processes. Two types are distinguished: type I serves mainly as an industrial raw material and as an aerosol propellant, blowing agent and refrigerant, while type II is used as a domestic, vehicle and industrial fuel. Classified G17 with the international group 71.080.60, it quotes GB 190-1990, GB 5842-1986, GB/T 6680-2003, GB/T 9722-2006, GB 14193-1993 and GB 15380-2001. Issued on 13 April 2007, it has applied since 1 October 2007.
