Food-grade glycine is the subject of HG/T 3883-2006, a recommended standard of the Chinese chemical industry. The standard fixes the requirements for food additive glycine, also called aminoacetic acid, and sets the test methods, the inspection rules and the provisions for marking, packaging, transport and storage. It applies to food additive glycine obtained from industrial aminoacetic acid made from trichloroacetamide, dissolved in water, treated with activated carbon and other purification steps, and then recrystallised. Its analytical work leans on GB/T 601, GB/T 602, GB/T 603, GB/T 1250, GB/T 5009.75, GB/T 5009.76-2003, GB/T 6678, GB/T 6679, GB/T 6682 and GB/T 9724. Issued on 26 July 2006, it has applied since 1 March 2007.
