The determination of water in thinners and anti-blushing agents is the subject of HG/T 3858-2006, a recommended chemical industry standard of China. It gives a qualitative test for the presence of moisture and a gas chromatographic method for measuring how much water is present. The quantitative method is intended for thinners and anti-blushing agents with a water content between 0.02 % and 3 %; it may still be used from 0.005 % to 0.02 % and from 3 % to 5 %, although the experimental error then grows. For special thinners and special anti-blushing agents, the relevant product standard governs instead. The standard quotes GB 1922, GB/T 2366, GB 9278 and GB/T 9722, and it takes the place of GB/T 1751-1992. Issued on 27 July 2006, it has applied since 11 October 2006.
