The standard was issued on 30 September 2022 and took effect on 1 April 2023.

This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, signs, packaging and storage of thinners for paints. This standard is applicable to diluents prepared from single or mixed solvents and/or co-solvents such as hydrocarbons, esters, alcohols, ethers, ketones, etc. sold separately in the market. This product is primarily used for thinning of paint during application. This standard does not apply to reactive diluents for paints that participate in the film-forming reaction during the film-forming process of paints and diluents that are sold together with other components of paints.
