HG/T 2581.2-2009 is the second part of the Chinese chemical industry series on rubber- or plastics-coated fabrics and sets out the ballistic pendulum method for tear resistance, identical in content to ISO 4674-2-1998. In this method a sudden force is applied to a notched test piece, and the tear resistance of the sample is characterised from the result. Specimens may be tested after conditioning in the standard atmosphere or after pre-immersion. Results obtained in this way are not comparable with results from the constant-rate tear method. GB/T 24133 and HG/T 3050.2 are quoted, and the standard was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Issued on 4 December 2009, it has applied since 1 June 2010.
