Scope
GB/T 9966.11-2021 is the English-translated version of 天然石材试验方法 第11部分:激冷激热加速老化强度测定.
GB/T 9966.11-2021 is the part of the Chinese test methods for natural stone that measures resistance to ageing by cold and thermal shock.
At least seven specimens of 200 mm x 200 mm x 20 mm are prepared: one is kept as a reference and six go through 20 cycles, each of (18 ± 1) h in a forced-air oven at (105 ± 5) °C followed by (6 ± 0.5) h immersion in water at (20 ± 5) °C. After cycling the specimens are dried, weighed and compared visually with the reference, and the dynamic elastic modulus is measured according to GB/T 9966.9-2021.
The results give the visible changes, the mass change and the change in dynamic modulus, and the test report lists what to state. It was issued on 21 May 2021 and has applied since 1 December 2021.

This section was drafted in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 9966 specifies the principle, equipment, sample preparation, and testing procedures for accelerated aging tests on natural stone to withstand cold and heat shock. Procedures, test results, and test report
This section applies to the determination of changes that may occur in natural stone under conditions of intense temperature changes (thermal shock).
4 Instruments and Equipment
4.1 Forced air drying oven. capable of maintaining the temperature at (105±5)°C.
4.2 Flat-bottomed container with lid. contains a sample holder that does not oxidize or adsorb the sample.
4.3 Balance. accurate to 0.01% of the weighed mass.
4.4 A set of equipment for measuring the dynamic modulus of elasticity.
4.5 Desiccant. A sealed container capable of holding at least one set of samples, with a built-in desiccant.
5 Sample Preparation
5.1 Number of Samples
At least seven specimens should be prepared from the same batch of test samples. Observe each specimen, noting all changes, such as cracks and pores.
The working surface should be consistent with the actual surface used. When there is anisotropic surface, the direction should be clearly marked on the sample with two parallel lines.
5.2 Sample size
The sample dimensions are 200mm x 200mm x 20mm, with a deviation of ±2.0mm. If variations in the sample affect performance, please select other sizes and indicate them.
The specimen should have at least one smooth surface. If polishing is not possible, at least one surface should be made smooth and flat through conventional treatment.
The remaining surface and edges can be sawn, sanded, or polished.
5.3 Sample drying
The sample was dried in a forced-air drying oven at (105±5)°C for 24 hours, and then cooled to room temperature in a desiccator. It was then removed, weighed, and the initial mass was recorded. Quantity (mo).
6 Experimental Procedure
6.1 Measurements before cycling
One representative sample was selected as the reference sample, which was not subjected to recycling and was placed in a desiccator for later use. The remaining six samples... By visually inspecting and comparing with a reference sample, all differences in the sample, such as cracks and holes, are recorded.
6.2 Loop processing
Six dried samples were subjected to the following periodic treatment. placed in a (105±5)°C forced-air drying oven for (18±1) h; then immediately... Immerse completely in distilled or deionized water at an initial temperature of (20±5)°C for (6±0.5)h.
When the samples are in the oven or water tank, the distance between the samples and between the samples and the tank walls should be at least 50 mm. The samples should be placed in a container of distillate.
In a water tank containing water or deionized water, place the sample on a support at the bottom, with the water surface at a distance of (60 ± 10) mm from the sample. The above process constitutes one... One cycle. If the test process is forced to stop at some point (non-testing interruption), the sample should be immersed in water at (20 ± 5)°C.
6.3 Measurement after cycling
After completing the 20 cycles of treatment as described above, the sample was dried at (105 ± 5)°C for 24 hours and then cooled to room temperature in a desiccator. Temperature. Remove and weigh the sample (m), then visually inspect and compare it with a reference sample, recording all changes.
Select one representative sample from the six cycled specimens and, together with the reference sample, conform to the requirements of GB/T 9966.9-2021. Samples were prepared, and the dynamic elastic modulus under drying conditions was determined. The average value of the test results of the reference sample was used as the dynamic elastic modulus before cycling. (Edo), the average value of the test samples prepared by the cycle is taken as the dynamic elastic modulus (E) after the cycle.
7 Test Results
7.1 Record visually observable changes (compared to the reference sample), such as. Oxidation status. Color changes, the appearance of stains; Swelling; crack; Peeling.
7.3 Calculate the change in dynamic elastic modulus according to equation (2), accurate to 0.1%.
8 Test Reports
The test report should include at least the following information.
a) The commercial name of the stone as specified in GB/T 17670;
b) Sample quantity, dimensions, surface treatment (as required for testing), and orientation of anisotropic surfaces;
c) The name and address of the laboratory where the test was conducted; if the test was not conducted in a testing laboratory, the location of the test should be noted.
d) The standard number followed in the test (GB/T 9966.11-2021);
e) Observable changes in the appearance of each sample.
f) The percentage change in mass for each sample and the average percentage change in mass;
g) Percentage change in dynamic elastic modulus.
h) Uncertainty in the determination (where appropriate).
