1 Scope

This document specifies the general requirements for shipboard audible and visual alarm signals and identification markings, the auditory presentation of alarms and calls, and the visual presentation of instructions and calls.

Sensory presentation, characteristics, requirements for specific alarms, and the grouping and aggregation of alarms and indicators.

This document applies to internal shipboard auditory alarms, visual alarms, call systems, and other safety measures related to the safety of passengers, crew, or the vessel, equipment, and cargo.
