Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for Standardization Work Part

1.Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents" Drafting. This document replaces GB/T 8145-2003 "Gum Rosin" and GB/T 29591-2013 "Slash Rosin", and GB/T 8145- Compared with GB/T 29591-2013 in.2003, in addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows:

---Added the technical index requirements for different types of gum rosin (see Chapter 4);

--- Deleted the special description of rosin rosin and rosin in South Asia in the technical indicators part of Chapter 4 of GB/T 8145-2003;

1 Scope

China's national standard for gum rosin. Rosin is what remains when the volatile turpentine is distilled off pine oleoresin, and gum rosin specifically means the resin tapped from living trees rather than recovered from stumps or from kraft pulping - which is the grade with the palest colour and the cleanest odour, and the one the higher-value uses require. China is the largest producer, and the material goes into adhesives and hot melts, printing inks, paper sizing, rubber compounding, soldering flux and chewing gum base. Its grading is largely by colour, measured against a set of reference standards, because colour tracks the oxidation the resin has undergone and therefore how it will behave and how it will smell. Rosin oxidises in storage, which is why the packaging and storage provisions are not incidental. The standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, sampling, inspection rules, grading, marking, packaging, transport and storage for gum rosin obtained by distilling turpentine tapped from living pine trees.

This document specifies the technical requirements, test methods, sampling, inspection rules, grading, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of gum rosin. This document is applicable to the gum rosin product obtained from the turpentine collected from the living standing wood of the pine tree after the turpentine is distilled and processed.

3 Terms and definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

3.1 Amorphous transparent glass-like solid resin obtained by distilling turpentine collected from the standing wood of pine trees to separate turpentine.
