Foreword

This document complies with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Standardization Work Guidelines Part 1: Structure and Drafting Rules of Standardization Documents".

This document supersedes GB/T 8050-2017 "Fiber Ropes - Polypropylene Split Film, Monofilament, Multifilament (PP2) and High-Strength Multifilament (PP3)" 3, 4, etc.

Compared with GB/T 8050-2017, the main technical changes in "8-12 strand rope" are as follows, apart from structural adjustments and editorial modifications.

---The scope has been changed (see Chapter 1, Chapter 1 of the 2017 edition);

---The term and definition of "minimum breaking strength" have been added (see 3.1);

---The identifier has been changed (see Chapter 4, Chapter 4 in the 2017 edition);

---The linear density deviation rate has been changed (see Chapter 6, Chapter 6 in the 2017 edition).

This document is equivalent to ISO 1346:2021 "Fiber ropes - Polypropylene split film, monofilament, multifilament (PP2) and high-strength multifilament (PP3)". 3-strand, 4-strand, 8-strand, and 12-strand ropes.

1 Scope

This document specifies the general techniques for making 3-strand and 4-strand twisted ropes and 8-strand and 12-strand braided ropes from polypropylene fibers for general purposes. The requirements were specified, and the identification rules were given.

This document does not cover all variations in strength or product performance. Consult with the rope manufacturer to ensure the intended design meets application requirements.
