1 Scope

Part 3 of China's national standard for acorn nuts, covering welded hexagon flange cap nuts. This member combines three features and is used where all three are needed together. The flange spreads the clamping load over a wider area, so the nut can be tightened against sheet metal or a soft material without pulling through and without a separate washer - which also means one fewer loose part on an assembly line. The closed cap protects the thread and removes the projection. And the welded construction is how such a nut is made: the cap is welded to the nut body rather than being formed with it, which is the practical route to the shape at these sizes. The result is a fastener common on vehicle and appliance assemblies where a bolt passes through thin panel. This part covers thread sizes M4 to M24 in property classes 6 and 8 and stainless grades A2-50, A2-70, A4-50 and A4-70, in product grade A up to 16 mm and grade B above.
