1 Scope

Part 1 of China's national standard for acorn nuts, covering the assembled type. An acorn or cap nut is closed at one end, so the bolt thread ends inside a dome instead of protruding. That does three things at once, and any of them is reason enough to specify one: it removes the projecting thread that would snag or cut, which is why they appear on handrails, machine guards and anywhere a hand goes; it seals the end of the thread against water and dirt, which prevents the corrosion that seizes an exposed thread; and it looks finished, which matters on visible fastenings. The assembled type is made from a nut and a separately formed cap joined together rather than machined from one piece, which is how the larger sizes are produced economically. This part covers thread sizes M4 to M24 in property classes 6 and 8, stainless grades A2-50, A2-70, A4-50 and A4-70, and copper and aluminium grades CU2, CU3 and AL4, in product grade A up to 16 mm and grade B above.
