Foreword

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.

This document replaces GB/T 5709-1997 "Terminology of Textile Nonwovens". Compared with GB/T 5709-1997, except for the structural adjustment in addition to the integration and editorial changes, the main technical changes are as follows.

a) The definition of nonwovens has been changed (see 3.1, 2.3.1 of the 1997 edition);

b) Added the terms "design and manufacture", "fiber assembly", "structural integrity" and "physical and/or chemical methods" (see 3.2 to 3.5);

c) Added auxiliary terms to distinguish nonwovens from other materials (see Chapter 4);

d) The terms "electrostatic web", "electrostatic fiber web", "cross web", "flash spun web" and "flash spun fiber web" were changed to "electrostatic spinning web" respectively.

net", "electrospinning web", "cross-laid web", "flash steamed web", "flash steamed web" (see 5.10, 5.11, 5.14, 5.25, 5.26, 1997 Version 2.1.8, 2.1.9, 2.1.15, 2.1.23, 2.1.24);

e) Added the terms "semi-straight-laid semi-crossed web" and "oriented web" (see 5.16, 5.17);

f) Added the term "sewing reinforcement" (see 6.12);

g) 22 terms for nonwoven products have been added (see Chapter 7);

h) Added the term "composite material" (see 8.4);

i) Deleted 11 terms such as "fluff pulp", "base material", "base fabric" and related properties (see 2.4 of the 1997 edition).

This document is modified to adopt ISO 9092:2019 "Nonwovens terminology" and ISO 11224:2003 "Textile nonwovens - webs and "Terms for bonding".

This document has the following structural adjustments compared to ISO 9092:2019.

--- 3.1 and 3.2 of ISO 9092:2019 correspond to Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 of this document, respectively. 3.1.6 "Papermaking" is adjusted to to Chapter 4, adjust 3.2.3 "Stitching reinforcement" to Chapter 6.

This document has the following structural adjustments compared to ISO 11224:2003.

a) Chapter 2 of ISO 11224:2003 is split into Chapters 5 and 7 of this document;

b) Chapter 3 of ISO 11224:2003 corresponds to Chapter 6 of this document;

c) Chapter 4 of ISO 11224:2003 corresponds to Chapter 8 of this document and replaces "composite nonwovens", "combined nonwovens", "laminated nonwovens" with "laminated nonwovens".

"Nonwovens" and "Coated nonwovens" are adjusted to Chapter 7 of this document.

The technical differences between this document and ISO 11224:2003 and their reasons are as follows.

--- Added 32 terms related to fiber webs and their formation processes and nonwoven products, and added terms related to consolidation processes 3, in order to adapt to the situation of products in our market.

1 Scope

This document defines the definition of nonwoven fabrics, gives the terms and definitions related to the production process and products of nonwoven fabrics, and provides Supplementary terms and definitions used to distinguish nonwovens from other materials.

This document applies to all types of nonwovens.

3 Basic terminology

Nonwoven

Designed and manufactured to achieve a predetermined level of structural integrity by physical and/or chemical means (not including weaving, knitting or papermaking), in the form of flat A fiber aggregate mainly in the form of a surface.

Note. Also known as non-woven fabric or non-woven material.

Designed, manufactured and engineered from design and planning to production of products that meet specifications, all activities benefit from the application of scientific research.

Fiber assembly

A predetermined number and arrangement of natural or chemical fiber materials, such as staple fibers, filaments or staple fibers of any length or cross-section.

Cut the yarn.

Note. It is generally a two-dimensional or three-dimensional fiber material formed by a web-forming process.

Structural integrity the tensile strength achieved reached measurable levels.

physicaland/orchemicalmeans A bonding technique that creates friction between fibers (through entanglement) or bonding between fibers (with or without a binder).

4 Auxiliary terms to distinguish nonwovens from other materials

Wetlaid process that is not papermaking Wet-laid webs of cellulose or other fibers whose structural integrity is achieved primarily by physical and/or chemical bonding rather than by hydrogen bonding
