1 Scope

China's national standard for the hollow bolt used with flared tube couplings. The hollow bolt - the banjo bolt - carries fluid through its own shank, so a connection can be made where there is no room for a fitting standing proud of a surface: the bolt passes through an eye on the end of the tube and screws into a tapped hole, sealing on washers either side, and the fluid passes from the bolt's cross-drillings into the eye. Two things follow from that, and both matter. The connection is completely free to rotate until the bolt is tightened, so the tube can be aimed anywhere; and the whole assembly stands only as high as a bolt head, which is why it is used on brake and clutch cylinders, on engine oil feeds and wherever a fitting would be struck. The standard specifies the hollow bolt's dimensions, marking and technical requirements, for tube outside diameters of 4 to 18 mm at 3.5 to 16 MPa.
