Scope
GB/T 51232-2016 is the English-translated version of 装配式钢结构建筑技术标准.
GB/T 51232-2016 covers assembled buildings with steel structure, that is, assembled buildings whose structure system is made up of steel parts and members, and applies to their design, production and transport, construction and erection, quality acceptance and use and maintenance where the seismic fortification intensity runs from 6 to 9 degrees. It rests on integrating four systems - the structure system, the building envelope system, the facility and pipeline system and the interior decoration system - and requires standardized design, factory production, assembled construction, integrated fitting-out, information-based management and intelligent application over the whole life of the building. After a long list of defined terms, from assembled building, module and standardized interface through integrated kitchens and bathrooms, non-wet construction and same-floor drainage to steel frame, braced frame, ductile wall panel and staggered truss structures and composite slabs, it sets basic requirements on system integration, modular and standardized production, full decoration, building information modelling, intelligent technology, technical planning, green materials, and fire and corrosion protection. The architectural design chapter treats collaborative design, building performance, modular coordination with its enlarged and sub-modular series, standardized design by modules, and the plan, elevation and storey heights. Later chapters cover integrated design of the four systems, production and transport, construction and erection, quality acceptance, and use and maintenance.

Status of this standard
Announcement No. 1418 of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, dated 10 January 2017 and reproduced in the front matter, approves the Technical standard for assembled buildings with steel-structure as a national standard numbered GB/T 51232-2016, to take effect on 1 June 2017. The prefix GB/T makes it a recommended standard.
The foreword states that the standard was drawn up under the letter of the General Office of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development on the drawing up of three standards including a technical code for assembled concrete structure buildings (Jianbanbiaohan [2016] No. 909), and that its main technical content covers general provisions, terms, basic requirements, architectural design, integrated design, production and transport, construction and erection, quality acceptance, and use and maintenance. The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development administers it, and China Institute of Building Standard Design and Research Co., Ltd. is responsible for interpreting its specific technical content.
The front matter of this copy carries no supersession line of the kind that names a replaced code, so no superseded code is recorded.
