This standard provides technical conditions for variable-frequency drive equipment used in the petrochemical and chemical industries. Such drives control motor speed in pumps, compressors, fans and other process machinery, and the sector has its own demands on reliability, environment and integration with plant systems.

The document is relevant to drive manufacturers, engineering and procurement contractors, plant owners, electrical designers and inspection bodies that need a common technical basis when specifying or accepting drives for process plants. It was prepared under the China Electrical Equipment Industry Association and is a recommended national standard, so compliance is voluntary unless a purchase specification invokes it.
