Scope

GB/T 48184-2026 is the English-translated version of 变形铝合金铸锭显微疏松测定方法.

This document provides a method for determining microporosity in ingots made of wrought aluminium alloys. Microporosity is a casting-related feature of the metal structure, and its presence in ingots can influence the quality of the rolled, extruded or forged products made from them. A standardized determination method lets producers and customers describe and compare ingot quality on a common basis.

Typical users are aluminium smelters and casthouses, semi-fabricators that buy ingot for downstream processing, metallurgical testing laboratories, and quality and procurement staff who need to agree on how microporosity is assessed. It is a recommended (voluntary) national standard taking effect on 1 March 2027, and the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association is the responsible body. Casthouses can also use it as a reference when investigating why downstream sheet, extrusion or forging lots show internal defects.
