Infrared thermography cameras and systems are used for non-destructive inspection of buildings, electrical installations, industrial plant and materials. This document is Part 2 of the series on infrared thermography within the non-destructive testing instruments field, and it provides a test method for the integrated performance of the system and equipment.

Manufacturers of thermal imaging instruments can use it to evaluate and describe their products. Inspection companies, calibration laboratories and purchasers may rely on it when comparing systems or checking that an instrument continues to perform as expected, and NDT personnel gain a clearer basis for qualifying their equipment. It is a recommended national standard and adopts an international standard. It was issued on 28 August 2026 and takes effect on 1 March 2027. Testing the camera and its accessories as a complete system, rather than component by component, reflects how the equipment is actually used in the field.
