Scope

GB/T 48154-2026 is the English-translated version of 液化天然气运输船转运过程燃气消耗计量方法.

This standard sets out metering methods for the gas consumed as fuel aboard liquefied natural gas carriers while cargo is being transferred. During loading and discharge operations, a carrier burns gas for propulsion or power, and that quantity must be measured so that cargo accounting and energy balances can be established reliably.

The document is intended for LNG shipping companies, terminal operators, cargo surveyors and inspection bodies, and trading parties who reconcile quantities delivered and received. Ship designers and equipment suppliers may also use it when considering how fuel gas flows are to be measured. It is a recommended (voluntary) national standard taking effect on 1 December 2026, a date earlier than most documents issued with it. Because fuel gas use during cargo handling affects the energy delivered to buyers, a common metering approach reduces disputes over small quantity differences.
