Scope

GB/T 48061-2026 is the English-translated version of 竹质活性炭.

Bamboo-based activated carbon is an adsorbent produced from bamboo raw material, and this standard is the product standard for it. Activated carbon is used in water treatment, air purification, decolourisation and other adsorption applications, and a national product standard gives suppliers and customers common ground for describing and controlling quality. It adopts an international standard.

Producers of bamboo charcoal and activated carbon, forestry-product processors, testing laboratories, and industrial or consumer users who purchase adsorbent materials may rely on it. Bamboo is an abundant resource in China, so this material is a domestic alternative to carbon made from coal or coconut shell.

The standard is recommended (GB/T) and voluntary, so it applies where contracts, supply agreements or product specifications refer to it. Overseas buyers sourcing activated carbon from China can use it to understand how the product is defined nationally and to frame questions to suppliers. It was issued on 28 August 2026 and takes effect on 1 March 2027.
