This standard gives technical requirements for the formulation of forest management plans. A forest management plan is the planning document that guides how a forest area is managed, protected and used over time, and the standard is intended to bring consistency to how such plans are prepared.

Its main users are forest management units, state and collective forestry enterprises, forestry planning and survey institutions, consultants who draft management plans, and forestry authorities that review or approve them. Landowners and organizations involved in sustainable forestry programmes may also refer to it when documenting their management approach.

The document was issued on 28 August 2026 and takes effect on 1 March 2027. It was prepared under the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and is a recommended national standard (GB/T).
