1 Scope

This document specifies the testing principle, general requirements, testing system, and reference zero-stress test method for detecting the magnetic anisotropy of residual stress in steel plates.

Sample, testing procedures, testing results, and testing reports.

This document applies to the detection of residual stress within a 2mm depth on the surface of ferromagnetic steel plates and their products (hereinafter referred to as "steel plates"). Coated plates are also acceptable.

Steel plates and their products shall be handled in accordance with this document.

3.1 Magnetic anisotropy

The phenomenon that the magnetic properties (such as permeability and magnetoelastic properties) of ferromagnetic materials vary in different directions due to stress.

3.2 Magnetizing coils

A sensor coil assembly that provides an excitation magnetic field to magnetize the steel plate under test.

3.3 Magnetizing current

The current applied to the excitation coil (3.2) generates a magnetic field and forms a magnetic flux in the steel plate being tested.
