1 Scope

This document specifies the design, operation, performance, and acceptance testing of winches for hydraulically and electrically driven trailing suction hopper dredgers.

The winches specified in this document are those required for operating the suction pipe during dredging operations on a trailing suction hopper dredger, mainly including the draghead winch, the suction pipe centre winch and the pipe bending winch, etc.
