This document describes the principle, test materials and equipment, specimens, and testing methods for measuring the volume resistivity of carbon fiber reinforced composite materials. Conditions, experimental procedures, result calculations, and experimental reports, etc. This document applies to the determination of volume resistivity of continuous carbon fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites.

GB/T 40724 Terminology for Carbon Fibers and Their Composites

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 40724, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this document.

3.1 volume resistance The ratio of the DC voltage applied between the two opposing end-face electrodes of the sample to the current between the two electrodes (excluding the current along the surface).

3.2 volume resistivity The ratio of the DC electric field strength to the current density parallel to the current direction in the sample.

Note. The unit is milliohm-millimeter (mOmega·mm).

4.Principles A specified pressure is applied to two end faces of the sample in a specific direction, and the volume resistivity of the two end faces is measured using a digital micro-ohmmeter. Based on the measured values... The volume resistivity in this direction is calculated based on the sample's volume resistivity and geometric dimensions.

5.1 Measurement System

5.1.1 General Requirements The measurement system, as shown in Figure 1, mainly consists of a pressure device, a digital micro-ohmmeter, copper foil, and an insulating plate. Measurements are taken along the slender direction of the sample.
