Foreword

This Document was drafted as per the rules specified in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for

Standardization – Part 1.Rules for the Structure and Drafting of Standardizing Documents.

This Document is Part 45 of GB/T 4706 Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances.

GB/T 4706 has published the following parts.

--- Part 1.General Requirements;

--- Part 2.Particular Requirements for Electric Irons;

--- Part 121.Particular Requirements for Professional Ice-Cream Makers.

This Document replaced GB 4706.45-2008 Household and Similar Electrical Appliances -

Safety - Particular Requirements for Air-Cleaning Appliances. Compared with GB 4706.45-

2008, the major technical changes of this Document are as follows besides the structural

adjustments and editorial modifications.

--- Change the scope of the document to which this document is not applicable (see Clause

1 of this Edition; Clause 1 of the 2008 Edition);

--- Add the definitions of the terms "UV-C emitter" and "ultraviolet air purifier" (see 3.102,

3.103 of this Edition);

--- Add the warning requirements for products with "UV-C emitters" and "ultraviolet air

purifiers", as well as the necessary maintenance, cleaning and replacement instructions

(see 7.1, 7.12 of this Edition);

--- Add additional requirements for the use, maintenance and cleaning of product structures

with "UV-C emitters" and "ultraviolet air purifiers" (see 22.103, 22.104, 22.105, 22.106

of this Edition);

--- Add "UV-C radiation protection requirements for internal wiring" (see 23.101 of this

Edition);

--- Add requirements for ozone release and ultraviolet radiation (see 32.101, 32.102 of this

Edition);

--- Add requirements for the handling of ultraviolet radiation (see Annex AA of this Edition).

This Document equivalently adopted IEC 60335-2-65.2015 Household and Similar Electric

Appliances – Safety – Part 2-65.Particular Requirements for Air-Cleaning Appliances.

This Document made the minimum editorial modifications.

--- Change the standard name into Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances –

Part 45.particular Requirements for Air-Cleaning Appliances; enhancing the

coordination of the standards system.

1 Scope

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is replaced by the following.

This Document specifies the safety requirements of electric air-cleaning appliances for

household and similar purposes.

2 Normative References

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.

3 Terms and Definitions

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.

Operation of the appliance as supplied or with high-voltage output circuits short-circuited,

whichever is more unfavorable.

Appliance that incorporates UV-C emitters to inactivate air-borne microbes.

4 General Requirement

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable.

5 General Conditions for the Tests

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.

6 Classification

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable.

7 Marking and Instructions

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.

If it is intended that replacement of the UV-C emitter can be carried out by the user, the

appliance shall be marked with "Read the instructions" or with symbol ISO 7000-0790 (2004-

01).

The instructions shall include details for cleaning and other user maintenance of the appliance.

They shall state that prior to cleaning or other maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected

from the supply mains.

8 Protection against Access to Live Parts

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.

The discharge from parts that are only accessible after the removal of a cover for cleaning or

other user maintenance is measured 2 s after the cover has been removed.

9 Starting of Motor-Operated Appliances

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is not applicable.

10 Power Input and Current

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable.

11 Heating

This Clause of GB/T 4706.1-2024 is applicable except as follows.

Appliances are operated until steady conditions are established.
