1 Scope

GB/T 46488-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering keeping furniture in use - the assessment of what can be repaired, refurbished or remanufactured, the cleaning and disinfection, the replacement of the parts that wear, the disclosure to the second buyer, and the recycling of what is left. First edition, with the footprint standard GB/T 46486-2025. In force from 1 May 2026. Issued on 5 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 May 2026.

This document specifies the requirements for furniture recycling and describes the relevant verification methods. This document applies to the recycling of furniture.

3 Terms and Definitions

The terms and definitions defined in GB/T 28202-2020, as well as the following terms and definitions, apply to this document.

3.1 Cyclic utilization Throughout a product's lifecycle, optimization in design, production, use, and disposal enables resources to be reused multiple times, reducing waste. The process of costs and pollution.

3.2 Waste/used furniture Discarded or (and) old, worn-out furniture.
