1 Scope

GB/T 46477-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering protecting a radar site from a strike - the air termination over a rotating antenna that cannot simply be caged, the bonding and earthing of the tower and the shelter, the surge protection on the waveguide, power and signal lines, and the testing afterwards. A radar station is the tallest thing on its hill and it is full of electronics. First edition, in force from 1 May 2026. Issued on 31 October 2025, it has been in force since 1 May 2026.

This document specifies the basic requirements for lightning protection of radar stations, including radar station buildings, radar antenna platforms, radar equipment rooms and communication transmission systems, and power distribution equipment. Requirements for the maintenance and management of electrical systems, other auxiliary devices, and lightning protection devices for radar stations. This document applies to the design, construction, and maintenance of lightning protection devices for meteorological radar stations, air traffic control radar stations, and surface surveillance radar stations. 3 Terms and Definitions

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
