GB/T 46004-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering edible tallow rendered from cattle suet, omentum and the fat around the organs — the raw material and its quarantine, the composition and the parameters that identify the fat: relative density, refractive index, melting point, iodine and saponification values, unsaponifiable matter, moisture and insoluble impurities, the fatty acid profile that shows whether another fat has been blended in, the inspection rules, and the labelling, packing, storage and transport. Issued with the mutton tallow standard GB/T 46003-2025. First edition, under the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration. In force from 1 February 2026. Issued on 1 August 2025, it has been in force since 1 February 2026.
