Scope
GB/T 45945-2025 is the English-translated version of 家用和类似用途电器中功能材料测试与评价指南.
GB/T 45945-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering materials put into an appliance for a property in electricity, magnetism, sound, light, heat or resistance to microbes rather than for structure — the four families of metal, inorganic non-metal, polymer and composite, the property analysis that characterises them, the hazard identification and the exposure pathways by which a material can reach the user, the safety evaluation, and the functional evaluation that asks whether the claimed effect is real. It is guidance rather than a set of limits: the appendices point to the test standards to use and to worked application examples. First edition, under the China Light Industry Federation. In force from 1 January 2026. Issued on 30 June 2025, it has been in force since 1 January 2026.

Introduction
Functional materials are increasingly used in household appliances. At present, there is a lack of domestic research and development based on the current status of the household appliance industry and product characteristics.
This document provides guidance for home appliance companies to reasonably select and safely use functional materials during product development.
The guidance is conducive to the integration of upstream and downstream of the home appliance industry chain and the high-quality development of the industry.
This document will be improved as research progresses.
Testing and application of functional materials in household and similar electrical appliances Evaluation Guidelines
1 Scope
This document provides the basic principles and methods for testing and evaluating functional materials in household and similar electrical appliances (hereinafter referred to as "household appliances").
It provides guidance on the typical applications of functional materials in household appliances.
This document applies to the testing and evaluation of functional materials in household appliances during the research and development, design, selection and delivery process.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
3.1 Functional materials for household and similar electrical appliances
It has special properties in electricity, magnetism, sound, light, heat, force, microorganisms, etc. or exhibits specific functions under its action, and is used to improve existing The inherent functions of home appliances, or materials that embody specific functions.
Note 1.Abbreviated as “functional materials”.
Note 2.Materials that only enhance inherent functions or embody specific functions through macrostructural design are not within the scope of this definition.
3.2
Functional materials based on metals or metal alloys.
3.3
Functional materials based on non-metallic inorganic substances.
Note. Examples of inorganic non-metallic substances include oxides, nitrides, carbides, silicates, etc.
3.4
Functional materials based on high molecular weight compounds (polymers).
3.5
Functional materials composed of two or more components with different properties (metals, inorganic non-metals, polymers, etc.).
3.6 hazard identification
The process of discovering, listing, and describing risk factors.
