Scope

GB/T 45686-2025 is the English-translated version of 矿用智能筒式磨机 技术要求.

China's national standard for ball mills, rod mills, semi-autogenous and autogenous mills. These are the tumbling mills that do the fine grinding in every mineral processing plant, and they are the largest single consumers of energy in mining - a single semi-autogenous mill in a copper concentrator may draw twenty megawatts continuously. Their differences are in the grinding medium: a ball mill uses steel balls, a rod mill uses steel rods that grind more selectively along their length, an autogenous mill uses the ore itself, and a semi-autogenous mill uses the ore with a ball charge added. Which is right depends on the ore, and the choice sets the plant's whole flowsheet. The standard specifies the types, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transport and storage for these machines, which is what allows a plant to be specified and a mill to be procured against defined performance rather than a supplier's claims.
