Scope

GB/T 45637-2025 is the English-translated version of 电动牙刷性能测试方法.

GB/T 45637-2025 gives the bench tests used to measure what an electric toothbrush actually does, and deliberately sets no pass or fail limits.

The measurements are listed clause by clause: the mass of the toothbrush, vibration frequency, rotation speed, the time a rechargeable model needs for a full charge and how long it then runs, electrical durability, mechanical strength including a drop test, durability of the key operation and standby power, with record tables for appearance, power-on checks, speed or frequency and charging function.

It covers toothbrushes for cleaning teeth, rechargeable models for adults and children and dry-battery models alike, whether rotary, reciprocating or vibrating.

Appliance makers and testing houses use it to compare models on the same basis. Identical to IEC 63174:2021, it was issued on 25 April 2025 and applies from 1 November 2025.

This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting.

This document is equivalent to IEC 63174:2021 "Electric toothbrush performance test method".

1 Scope

This document applies to electric toothbrushes for cleaning teeth. Rechargeable electric toothbrushes for adults and children and dry battery electric toothbrushes Toothbrushes are within the scope of this document.

The test items involving performance indicators in this document are listed in Chapter 4.

This document only specifies the test method and does not set any limits.

Note: Electric toothbrushes are classified as follows.

According to the power supply method, it is divided into the following types.

---Dry-cell battery powered electric toothbrush.

---Rechargeable electric toothbrush.

- Wireless rechargeable electric toothbrush;

- Corded rechargeable electric toothbrush.

According to the movement mode, it is divided into the following types.

---Rotary electric toothbrush.

---Reciprocating electric toothbrush.

- Linear reciprocating electric toothbrush;

- Rotary reciprocating electric toothbrush.

---Vibrating electric toothbrush.

The classification of different types of toothbrushes is for reference only.

Other than that, the tests were identical for all other types of electric toothbrushes.
