Scope

GB/T 45369-2025 is the English-translated version of 吸收性卫生用纸制品及原材料 消臭效果评价方法.

GB/T 45369-2025 is the Chinese national standard covering measuring whether an absorbent hygiene product or its raw materials remove smell — the methods of detection tube, gas detector, liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry and gas chromatography with mass spectrometry, the odour compounds each covers from ammonia and hydrogen sulfide to isovaleric acid and indole, the procedure for a product that inhibits the bacteria making the odour rather than adsorbing it, and the reduction rate against a blank. It covers diapers, sanitary napkins, pet pads and paper cat litter, and raw materials down to the superabsorbent resin and the fluff pulp. First edition, under the China National Light Industry Council. In force from 1 September 2025. Issued on 28 February 2025, it has been in force since 1 September 2025.

4 Principle

Add the specimen and a certain initial concentration of chemical components of unpleasant odor to a sampling bag or conical flask. After the specimen and the chemical components of unpleasant odor have been in contact for a specified time, use a detection tube, a gas detector, liquid chromatograph - mass spectrometer/tandem mass spectrometer, or gas chromatograph - mass spectrometer to respectively determine the concentrations of the chemical components of unpleasant odor in the sampling bag or conical flask with the specimen and without the specimen. Calculate the rate of reduction of the concentration of each chemical component of unpleasant odor to evaluate the deodorant performance.
