Scope
GB/T 45172-2024 is the English-translated version of 感官分析方法 定量描述感官评价小组表现评估导则.
GB/T 45172-2024 — This document provides guidance for the quantitative description of the overall performance of a sensory evaluation panel and the evaluation of individual assessors.
This document is applicable to the verification of the effectiveness of training of individual assessors or groups as a whole, the management of the performance of established assessment teams, and the evaluation of the ability of the group and individual evaluators to distinguish different products, the consistency between different evaluators in the same group, and the evaluators' ability to distinguish between different products.
Performance monitoring and evaluation of repeatability in degree scoring.
This document does not apply to the following situations. --Use consensus profile (CP), free choice profile (FCP), self-selected feature ranking profile (FP) and dynamic dominant attribute test Descriptive methods such as the TDS (TDS) are used to evaluate group performance, including not recording individual raters' scores and not having a common score for all raters.
A single attribute list or the assessor only indicates the dominant attribute without measuring the strength of the attribute; -- Evaluation of the reproducibility of the performance of the evaluation group, including comparisons between evaluation groups and the same evaluation group under different conditions (e.g. Comparison of multiple evaluations conducted at different times.
The methods listed in this document are not exhaustive. The team leader (or sensory analyst) may use all or part of the methods given in this document. The performance of sensory panels or individual assessors may be continuously assessed using the methods outlined in the literature, or other appropriate methods.

Foreword
This document is in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 1.1-2020 "Guidelines for standardization work Part 1: Structure and drafting rules for standardization documents" Drafting is required.
This document is equivalent to ISO 11132:2021 "Sensory analysis methodology - Guidelines for quantitative description of sensory panel performance evaluation".
The following minimal editorial changes were made to this document.
a) To coordinate with the existing standards, the name of the standard is changed to "Sensory Analysis Methods for Quantitative Description of Sensory Evaluation Panel Performance Evaluation" Guidelines;
b) Added the description of "ns" in Table 5, and changed "MS4 = s1/v1" to "MS4 = s4/v4" to correct the original error;
c) Deleted two formulas in 6.4.3 and 7.4 and corrected the errors in the original text;
d) The order of b) and c) in Figure A.1 has been corrected to rectify the error in the original text.

The URLs for terminology databases used for standardization maintained by ISO and IEC are as follows.
Consistency agreement the ability of different evaluation panels or evaluators to demonstrate differences in the performance of the same product when scoring a single attribute of the same group of products.
Evaluation panel drift Over time, the evaluation team may have different expectations for a constant reference because the evaluators' sensitivity changes or they become susceptible to bias.
